Boulevard, Nashville
Andres Colina runs Patron Studio at 5700 Crossing Boulevard in Nashville. He's been behind the chair for four years, and in that time he's turned a family tradition into a shop of his own. His path started with his brother, a working barber, and a belief his family instilled early: everyone needs an art to call their own. Here's his story, in his own words.
One minute. His whole story in his own words.
A Family Trade
Barbering wasn't a random choice for Andres. It came from home.
My family always taught me to have an art
His brother was already a barber, and four years ago Andres decided to follow him into it, enrolling in barber school to learn the trade properly.
Once he was in the profession, the goal became clear: he didn't just want to cut hair, he wanted to own a shop. As his skills grew, so did his clientele, and what started as a craft started to look like a real investment. Patron Studio had been the plan for a while. "It was always in my mind and vision to have The Patron Studio," he says.
What Barbering Means to Him
Ask Andres what the culture is about, and he doesn't start with clippers or fades. He starts with discipline.
For me, the barbershop is about consistency, discipline, and dedication
He sees today's barbers as standing on the work of the people before them, and he treats the craft as something bigger than a service: passion, art, love, and culture, carried into every corner of the world it reaches.
That culture, to him, isn't just for one type of client. Patron Studio is built to serve everyone who walks in, adults and kids alike, with the same standard: good work and a good appearance, wherever people go afterward.
His Advice to Other Barbers
Andres is direct about what it takes to go from behind someone else's chair to building a brand of your own: start before you feel ready.
"Don't be afraid to invest or to start," he says.
Every beginning is difficult, but perseverance and discipline will bring your customers to another level.
His benchmark for the work itself is simple: offer the best service available in your city.
He's also clear-eyed that it won't be smooth the whole way. "There will always be pros and cons, but the vision depends on you," he says. His closing advice is the same thing that got him from barber school to shop owner: believe in yourself, and do everything possible to make your dreams come true.
New to SQUIRE
Andres is one of SQUIRE's newest shop owners. He connected with the SQUIRE sales team and worked directly with Tony, SQUIRE's rep on the ground in Nashville, to see firsthand what the platform could do for Patron Studio.
